About Me

My name is Kal Frenzel, and I am the sole photographer of Lightningsavage Photography. I am a Houston and Texas-based cosplay, J-Fashion, and portrait photographer who loves working with all types of creative people and exploring new places. I like to keep my business flexible—so don't worry about it if you have a specific place you would like to shoot.
I hope to bring out the natural beauty in others. This means that I will do no extensive retouching, no photoshop weight tricks, or anything related. Don't worry, though—you will look phenomenal. (To see an example of my retouching style, see my How It Works page.) I tailor each shoot to my clients' needs, so don't be shy about telling me what you need!
Aside from photography, I enjoy writing fiction, Japanese fashion and culture, cosplay, and gaming. I graduated from the University of Houston in 2015 with a BA in English Literature and minors in Creative Work and Business Administration. I do keep a day job to pay the bills—and unfortunately that does sometimes affect my scheduling!

About Lightningsavage Photography

I used to be an active member of deviantART.com as a nature photographer, but I dreamed of working with people. In the summer of 2012, I decided to incorporate more models into my photography, so I started advertising for photoshoots and senior pictures. I soon picked up experience in cosplay photography while taking on my annual Photober challenge, and I was hooked. Later, I realized that J-Fashion seemed like a natural fit for my style, and I was soon hooked on (and pulled into) that as well. Since then, I've covered multiple fashion shows, tea parties, and events including Oni-Con in Galveston, TX both in 2016 and 2017.
